Using the Excel EXACT Function


The Excel EXACT function will compare two text string and return TRUE if the are an exact match. If they are not, the function returns FALSE. The function is case-sensitive, but does ignore formatting differences.


=EXACT (text1, text2)

Required. The first text string.

EXACT examines two text strings and will return TRUE if they are an exact match and FALSE if they are not. The function is case-sensitive.

It is possible to use the equal sign (text1=text2) when you need to compare text strings. However, this method is not case-sensitive.
