Using the Excel LEN Function
SummaryThe Excel LEN function returns the number of characters in a text string. The LENB function can be used to find the number of bytes used to represent the characters in a given text string. In both LEN and LENB spaces count as characters.
LENB counts two bytes per character when a double-byte character set (DBCS) language is used. DBCS languages include Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), and Korean. If a DBCS language is not used then LENB performs the same as LEN and counts one byte per character.
Required. Text whose length you want to find.
