Excel QUARTILE.INC Function

Summary

The Excel QUARTILE.INC function returns the quartile of a given data set based on percentile values from 0 to 1, inclusive. A quartile is often used to divide populations into groups. For example, to find the top 20% of students in a class, the top 5% of runners in a state, etc.

QUARTILE.INC, along with QUARTILE.EXC, is an improved version of the QUARTILE function. While QUARTILE is still available as a compatibility function, Microsoft recommends using QUARTILE.EXC and QUARTILE.INC.
